In honor of a killer afternoon monsoon storm and Katie's 11th birthday party (ice skating then swimming and a sleepover at our house with eight 10/11 year old girls), the Husband and I cracked a bottle of Life and Limb 2 (10% ABV) on Saturday afternoon. Life and Limb is a collaboration brewed by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Deleware) and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company (Chico, California).
According to the label: "
This ale is dedicated to the family of craft-brew drinkers worldwide who continue to support the little guys, iconoclasts, entrepreneurs, and pioneers who risk life and limb to shape the craft-brewing community. We are proud to share our two branches with the thousands of other vibrant branches--those of fellow brewers--who collectively comprise the craft-brewing family tree. Sip slowly with driends and loved ones, savor--because one could do better than be a swigger of birches."

Happy Birthday to our not-so-little girl. Time flies. |
This is a thick and heavy beer brewed with syrups but somehow the taste is still light and crisp without overpowering my taste buds. It was a solid purchase ($9.99 from Total Wine) - so much so that I may try to find another one to store under a bed somewhere for another special life event in 2-3 years.
